Kang Do Won Responder Team: Resilient Responders Program
In the high-pressure world of emergency response, physical and mental resilience are essential attributes. The VFR Foundation is proud to introduce the Resilient Responders martial arts program, hosted at the Kang Do Won Institute in Willoughby. This program is tailored for first responders, offering a healthy outlet for stress relief and teaching vital skills such as humbleness, focus, attention to detail, and enhanced physical fitness.
David Knott, founder of VFR, emphasizes the importance of "self-help in the moment"—providing responders with a safe coping mechanism to build resilience and self-confidence. The exceptional faculty at Kang Do Won, with 145 years of collective experience and 24 combined ranking degrees, brings a wealth of practical knowledge and martial arts expertise. Their unique backgrounds as current or retired responders make them ideal instructors for this program.
The Resilient Responders Program features a biweekly curriculum over six months, starting on July 22nd, 2024. With small group sessions of 12-15 students, participants receive personalized attention in a supportive environment. This program is a unique opportunity for responders to develop the physical and mental fortitude needed in their demanding roles.
